simplest to park in the first car park you come to, on the
right as you approach on the B184 from Great Chesterford.

1605 and 1616. The grounds were landscaped by 'Capability Brown' and include
wonderful follies and a Victorian kitchen garden.1 mile W of Saffron Walden on

B1383 through Littlebury.

Audley End

Just across the road from Audley End House, this is a delightful 1.5 mile
ride on Lord Braybrooke's private 10 ¼" gauge steam railway through woodland.

Chesterford and take the B1383 through Littlebury to Audley End

Mountfitchet

01279 813237 The only Norman motte and bailey Castle in the world,
re-constructed on its original site. Features animals roaming freely throughout
the site (deer, sheep and goats), animated wax figures which speak to visitors,
siege weapons, siege towers and much more.
From the caravan site, drive through Great Chesterford and take the B1383
through Littlebury and carry on until you see signs for Mountfitchet Castle.

and for all interests and tastes.
Easily accessible on the southern side of Cambridge are the University
Botanic Gardens and Fitzwilliam Museum. From our caravan site take the A1301 to
Cambridge. Or you can catch the train to Cambridge - the caravan site is about a
mile from Great Chesterford railway station.

The 2500 acre Wimpole Estate, situated eight miles south west of Cambridge,
offers visitors the chance to visit: a house built mainly in the 18th Century;
landscaped park; gardens and Home Farm. The park is open all year dawn to dusk.

Fowlmere (RSPB

Melbourn. Fowlmere's reedbeds and pools are fed by natural chalk springs and
a chalk stream runs through the reserve. Special birds, include kingfishers and
water rails, breeding sedge, reed and grasshopper warblers and a roost of corn
buntings. Open at all times. |

take the B184, A11 and then A1307 to Linton. Its on the B1052 between Linton and

Bartlow
Hills - the largest barrows in Britain The Romano-British cemetery
at Bartlow is on the Essex/Cambridgeshire border near Linton. The largest is 45
feet high and the highest in Britain by far, with a wooden staircase to the top.
You can then look down on the other two giants. The path starts at the church in
Barlow - half a mile to the Hills. To get there from the caravan site,
follow the above route to Linton, but keep going on the A1307 until you see
