Hawthorn House Caravan Site

Our caravan site is ideal as a base for visiting Saffron Walden, Cambridge, Duxford (Imperial War Museum), Audley End House and the many other attractions in the area (click here for tourist information). We are open all year round. The caravan site is for Caravan Club members only. To join
phone the club on 0800 328 6635 or visit www.caravanclub.co.uk before you visit our site.

The caravan pitches are on well drained grass and can be used in any weather.
Adjoining the pitches is a recreational area. Please don't allow children to play in the orchard area or the Christmas tree plantation.
The caravan pitches are on a half acre area, part of a 2 acre site. The village is just a short walk away, with 2 pubs, a shop, church, bus stop (buses to Cambridge and Saffron Walden), rail station (London Liverpool St to Cambridge line). Nearby Saffron Walden has a wide range of shops and services. |
Each pitch has a narrow concrete strip (just big enough for the wheels of your caravan). There is also an electric hook-up and tap next to each pitch. NB: from Dec to March inclusive most taps are disconnected to protect from frost damage.
Toilet block
The caravan site currently has a WC working from Easter to October inclusive (we drain it down in winter to protect against frost damage).
NB there is no shower on this site.

Wildlife
Sparrowhawks may be seen hunting on the site. Buzzards often fly over the site. Green woodpeckers live in the trees around the site and may be seen looking for insects in the grass. Greater spotted woodpeckers also visit the site.
Early in the morning you may be lucky enough to see muntjack and red deer.
The site has meadow areas with long grass and wild flowers - please don't drive in these areas.

Public footpaths run alongside two sides of the caravan site, allowing walks
into the countryside or into the village (go through pedestrian gate at bottom
of field). The Icknield Way long distance path runs past the caravan site. See our map for two suggested short walks.
